In poker, the best five-card hand plays at showdown. If there is a flush on the board, and no player at the showdown has a card of that suit, then all players have the same flush and the pot is split evenly between all the players. Winners and Loser in Split Pots. Poker is a zero-sum game, meaning for every winner there has to be a loser. But, that’s not to say there can’t be more than one winner. This scenario is especially true in split pot poker variations and situations. For example, imagine it’s No-Limit Texas Hold’em game and you have an ace-high straight. In high-low games, the easiest split pot is when one player wins the high and the other wins the low. Here, you simply divide by two and each player collects their winnings. A player with the best high and the best low hand 'scoops' the whole thing.
